Withering Heights was established by the Oasis Mining Company as a planned nether-aesthetic settlement. The city follows strict building codes — structures are required to use nether brick as the primary material, with secondary options including stone brick, red nether brick, and nether wart block. Fire and lava elements are encouraged in building designs. Plots were reserved by contacting theoubre directly.

The nether outpost and Purpur Line connection were built under the Cangrejos Trust and labelled as active in late 2016.
