Skylight (Alpha Centauri)
Skylight is a city built above the bedrock ceiling of the Alpha Centauri Nether dimension, at approximately nether coordinates (1, 130, 1). It is accessible via portal from the Alphac Nether Hub. The city was founded by Jekyell and expanded by contributors Superduck and tmosconi.
The Legend of Skylight
A multi-sign narrative at the Nether Hub entrance recounts the city's origin:
Once upon a time, a lone miner worked tirelessly on building a railroad. Little did he know he had angered Teufel, the lord of the nether. The lone miner was then banished to a barren wasteland that he could never leave. The miner, trapped above the nether, began to build a small town of which he lived in for many months til he grew mad. He then beseeched the wizard of eternal flames to help him escape from his prison. The wizard heard his cries and cast a potion to break through the unbreakable ground. The miner, amazed by the incredible light, refused to leave and would not give up his town he had built in. He continued to build it up — with a few stops between worlds, till it became the biggest city in all of Ravenkraft.
City Rules
Rules signs at the Skylight entrance read:
- Obey all normal rules while here
- Build buildings reasonably
- Inform Jekyell or tmosconi of new buildings
- Do not destroy vegetation
