Civitas Fortuna (Latin: City of Fortune) is a temple city in Bankrekka, the current survival world of the Ravenkraft Network. Founded by Gavrius in 2022, it is one of only two cities in Bankrekka classified as a Temple City in the Dynmap system (alongside Versailles).
The city is built with a consistent Roman civic theme, including Latin naming conventions, classical infrastructure, and a Portuguese-speaking community that uses trilingual signage for public works.
Founding
A dedication inscription at (−1203, 66, 672) establishes the city's Roman civic identity:
S.P.Q.G. | Civitas Fortvna | A.V.C | MMDCCLXXV
- S.P.Q.G. — Senatus Populusque Gavrius — a deliberate parody of the Roman SPQR (Senatus Populusque Romanus), substituting the builder's name in place of "Romanus"
- Civitas Fortvna — the city's Latin name, written in classical form with V instead of U
- A.V.C MMDCCLXXV — Anno Urbis Conditae (Year of the Founded City) 2775 — the Roman calendar dating system. AUC 2775 converts to approximately 2022 CE, confirming the founding year. (Roman AUC dates from 753 BC: 2775 − 753 = 2022)
Overview
Civitas Fortuna sits at y=64 (sea level terrain) in region r.-3.1, approximately 1,180 blocks west and 801 blocks south of spawn. Nether portal access is confirmed at the Gavrius waypoint (approximately −154, y=?, 99 in the Nether). The city is connected to Ravenport via both the Nether highway and TrainCarts rail.
Storage infrastructure uses Portuguese-language labels, indicating the city's community:
- Terras (Earth/Dirt) · Pedras (Stones) · Minerais (Minerals/Ores) · Madeira (Wood) · Areia (Sand) · Pilhagem de Mob (Mob Loot)
Fortuna's Line
A named TrainCarts rail corridor runs through Civitas Fortuna, documented at approximately (−1419, 92, 728–736). The line carries three official names:
| Language | Name |
|---|---|
| Latin | Via Fortuna |
| Portuguese | Linha Fortuna |
| English | Fortuna's Line |
Direction signs: "To Gaul → | ← To Spawn" — the line connects Ravenport (spawn side) to a destination called Gaul in the opposite direction.
A speed-descent sign at (−1397, 110, 744) reads: "Here is some cusion to keep you from breakin your legs −Wally" — a safety landing pad installed by player Wally at the approach to the rail terminus.
Additional Latin directional markers: Vade (Go) and Veni (Come) mark the inbound and outbound directions at (−1403, 87, 730) and (−1403, 87, 734).
A humorous sign at (−1404, 85, 732): "Barbarian Please respect the correct Line" — addressed to players unfamiliar with the Latin-themed infrastructure.
Basilica Gavria
The city contains the Basilica Gavria, a major temple or public building noted on a transit sign at (−1418, 92, 732): "Basilica Gavria | Junglussy View" — indicating the basilica overlooks jungle terrain.
Notable Connections
