Ravenkraft History

Founded in 2012 by Wizardofire, Ravenkraft has been a thriving Minecraft community for a full decade. Known for its aversion to core-game changing plugins, Ravenkraft has managed to keep a close-to-vanilla experience throughout almost its entire history.

Early Days
In 2011, Wizardofire launched an anarchy server called Apples of Discordia.

Alpha Centauri IV
In March of 2012, Alpha Centauri IV was created. Moving away from the anarchy play style, this world became Wizardofire's first attempt at maintaining a vanilla world that was orderly.
Alpha Centauri IV was the first world for many of Ravenkraft's veteran players, including justin1423, Mattfu, ParadigmPlague, Shammon, Stalin77, theoubre, among others.
During this time, RyanPhantom documented many events on the server. His livestream content captured hours of adventures, group builds, and shenanigans.

Zothique
By 2015, Minecraft version 1.8 had arrived, bringing changes to world generation. Starting fresh made sense.
Zothique saw the construction of Desovar, the spawn city, which was home to dozens of skyscrapers and a sprawling residential area dubbed Twin Pines. The world was connected via rail to all major cities over tens of thousands of blocks.
RyanPhantom famously built the city of Aradia southeast of Desovar. Rottorz was known for his love of exploration, uncovering the entire dynmap almost single-handedly—well before Elytras were introduced!
When 1.9 was released, Elytras changed travel dynamics. MickyMack built "boat launcher towers" to propel players far distances before rockets were implemented.
Zothique was the first Ravenkraft world for ComradeFeliks, and it became the server's most active period.

The Dark Ages
By 2017, the server’s player base had dwindled significantly. From an active community of over 1000, only a handful of players remained. The server went offline in the fall of 2017.
ComradeFeliks later set up a Bedrock Realm with friends, but longing for the Java experience, he launched a new server in November 2019 with version 1.14. This server was baptized Diaspora.
Diaspora

Diaspora became a spiritual successor to Ravenkraft. Feliks invited Wizardofire to join, and together they reached out to former players. Many returned, forming the core community of New Ravenport, the spawn capital.
Outside New Ravenport, cities like New Feronia emerged, and transportation networks like the redesigned Nether Express were built.
When 1.18 approached, the community decided to start fresh once again to take advantage of the new terrain.
The Phoenix Rises
A new world, temporarily called South Mesa, was chosen for the server's rebirth. Using the Ravenkraft name again, the world launched in February 2022 with version 1.18.
The addition of Towny allowed for build protection and claim management while maintaining the semi-vanilla experience. The stunning new landscapes and climate zones inspired players to create spectacular settlements.
Bankrekka
At launch, Ravenwood (formerly Ravenport) was established at spawn, complete with a main street for shops and a group-built port area. The train station and city portal sit prominently at the main intersection.
Bankrekka welcomed new players, including Shawntificus, Malinir, CurlyBorly, and SushiBaked. Staff hope to keep this world active for years, allowing players to create long-term projects and vast settlements.
