The Covid Chronicles
The Covid Chronicles is a three-part in-world book series written by felixdeportu in Diaspora during the COVID-19 lockdown of April–June 2020. It is a dated first-person diary of the server, and the most detailed primary source recovered from the Diaspora era.
The three volumes are held on lecterns in region r.-1.-1: Part 1 at -300, 66, -204 and -336, 71, -192; Part 2 at -337, 71, -192; Part 3 at -338, 71, -192.
Opening
April 3, 2020 - I could have started this sooner, but here we are. It is been three weeks since the quarantine started for me.
Part 1
Records the cathedral finished at the centre of spawn and named Porta Coeli, and the redrawing of roads and plots at spawn. TheWanderingFool set up a store and a Guardian farm for Sea Lanterns.
The server's first Ender Dragon kill:
Lokilindo, wizardofire, FreakinMike, Hylianerd, TheWanderingFool, and I slayed it in short order.
The server's first pair of Elytra was found after raided cities; six players rolled for it and FreakinMike won. Lokilindo later found his own pair and opened a shop selling wings and shulker boxes.
theoubre settled a plot north of felix in the desert to build Aquarius, described as "a fully fledged very stylish new aquarium".
Part 2
Covers 10–17 April 2020. The 1.16 Nether Update snapshots were anticipated. theoubre, F_Z_Bunny and felix made the pillager outpost safer with an elevated road. justin1423 moved villagers to his mountain by minecart and built farms at his Canadian Rockies village. Lokilindo built a pillager grinder that disappointed him.
LINATIC arrived and built opposite Casa Blanca as an impromptu marketplace, later helping redesign Casa Blanca by removing the centre building. A Wither fight with Wiz, TheWanderingFool, Linatic and felix went badly without justin1423.
theoubre claimed two islands south of Termina Bay and named them Dark and Light, using one of them to make charged creepers. Neither island has been located by coordinate; no sign bearing either name has been found.
Part 3
Covers 2–23 June 2020. felix and Micky began a TV station in New Tristram — green screen space, news room, weather room — to record regular programming for the server. The build is Ravenport Broadcasting, and it was never finished.
Our inspiration is coming from KENI Radio Building, an art deco style station in Anchorage.
Lina and felix paved and organised the spawn portal area and added sewers, and landscaped the neglected park by the train station into New Ravenport Central Station Park. A dye store was completed; candidate names were "Colors 2 Dye 4" and "Dye Hard". Wiz reworked his rail station facade, removing the south wing to make a harbour.
Rail was traced north toward Hylia and "The Broasis (Canadia)". RangedSpider, a friend of Lina's, joined and settled islands to the southwest. Lina found a Mushroom Island.
Wizardofire's daughter
Entry for 4 June 2020:
Wiz is here with his daughter tonight. He showed her around spawn and they went mining. We are hoping she will join us on adventures in the future.
This is very likely the earliest record of Frog, who co-built the Kingdom of Zeal with wizardofire in 2025 and whose builder's-guild signs "Frog 1" and "Frog 2" appear in Taconia.
